The Longhouse

The longhouse was a tradionally built property that had been constructed by the local villagers and Gap Year students from Camps International. Childrens rooms are situated down the left hand side of the house and a communal dining and chilling out area to the right. Parents the mosquito nets you can see on the topright are where the teachers slept.

After settling down to a welcoming coconut drink, which you can see the children enjoying, we set off for a tour of the camp. Finding where the toilets, showers and importantly the football/play area was. The children then decided who was sleeping in which room and after experiencing their first 'cold' shower - Aaaaargh!!!!!. But the whole thing became very funny and the children soon retired to their rooms, chatting and giggling
about the whole day so far. Gradually the chatter began to fade as the children drifted off to sleep and soon all the teachers could hear was the sounds of the wildlife outside.
